Fewer prescription drugs are accessible to abusers.
More than 880 pounds of expired and unused medication were collected through a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday.
County residents were able to safely dispose of the medication by bringing it to Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, Novant Health UVA Health System Haymarket Medical Center, or Sentara Lake Ridge Medical Center.
The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD), the Manassas City Police Department (MCPD), and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) set up the event.
By participating in drug take-back programs, community members can prevent drug addiction and overdoses, according to a release from the Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD).
