An upcoming disc golf tournament is having a hand in helping humanity.
Evolution Disc Golf and Rice Properties Group are partnering with the Capital Area Food Bank to host R’Ice Bowl V on February 20. The event will raise funds for people in need.
Supply chain issues have negatively affected food transportation, leading to a 75 percent decrease in donations to food organizations, according to a release from Evolution Disc Golf. This 2-round charity disc golf tournament is organized to help combat hunger by raising money in a active way.
Registration is available on the Disc Golf Scene website until February 17. The event will be on February 20 at Prince William Golf Course, 14631 Vint Hill Road in Nokesville.
Each player needs to make sure they are up to par for the challenge ahead. The teams will be paired up with a division, so contestants must bring their own partner. Entry Fee is $60 per person for all divisions – aside from recreation – and includes fees associated with the greens, cart rental, R’Ice Bowl V disc, and lunch.
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. with a Tee Party before the official competition begins at 9 a.m. Contestants will play around a temporary golf course. There will be both pro and amature divisions out on the course, each having the chance to win a trophy in order to find out who is the better ball.
At noon, lunch and practice rounds will become available. Practice rounds are $15 at Noon and the second round will commence at 1 p.m.
Ice Bowl has raised almost $5.4 million and collected 930,000 pounds in food donations during the past 26 years.

Rice Properties Group will match $3,500 of contributions to this donation page.
