Your child could win up to $5,000 for taking part in a video scholarship contest.
According to a release, Burke & Herbert Bank is hosting a financial literacy video scholarship contest, and teens ages 13 to 18 can participate.
Their 2016 “Lights, Camera, Save!” contest involves individuals creating a 90 second video promoting the value of saving money. This year’s contest is being sponsored by the American Bankers Association, according to a release.
“Lights, Camera, Save! offers area youth an opportunity to build their own savings while using their creativity to inspire other teens to be wise with their money. We were thrilled that the Bank’s 2015 regional winner, Jackson Harvey from West Potomac Academy, went on to place second in the ABA’s national competition. We’re looking forward to seeing this year’s entries and to having another big winner,” stated Burke & Herbert Bank Executive Vice President Terry Cole in a release.
Video entries are being accepted up through December 1, stated a release.

Burke & Herbert Bank will host the first round of judging and will select a winner to represent the Bank on the national level for a prize up to $5,000, plus a scholarship for their teacher to attend the 2017 Jump$tart National Educator Conference.
Burke & Herbert Bank is rewarding the top three local winners with $350, $100, and $50, respectively as well as awarding a $50 gift card to each of their teachers. Entry forms and more information can be found at burkeandherbertbank.com.
The 2015 Burke & Herbert Bank regional winner and second place national winner, Jackson Harvey was awarded a total of $2,850. His video, A Squirrel’s Guide to Saving, is featured on the ABA’s website.
