Look out – there’s a new burger joint in town.
Burgerfi, a higher end burger chain that started in Florida in 2011, has opened their first location in Woodbridge, at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center.
According to Alicia Barahona, the Director of Marketing for the Burgerfi franchise, the business got its start because of one man’s quest to find a great place to grab a burger.
“It was a guy who just wanted a good burger,” said Barahona.
At Burgerfi you can chose from a number of burgers, Kobe hot dogs, apple chicken dogs, frozen custard, fries, and onion rings. Not exactly your standard fare at a fast food chain.
“It’s not your standard burger place. Everything is made to order, so everything’s a la carte…we also believe in sustainable, all-natural – trying to get ingredients from local farmers. Nothings frozen – we don’t have a freezer,” said Barahona.
Barahona, and her father Jose Barahona – who is the owner of the regional Burgerfi franchise – are no strangers to the food industry in the area.
According to Barahona, the family brought Pollo Campero – the Latin American fast food chain – to the Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland area several years ago.
Barahona said that they chose Stonebridge to start their first Burgerfi location because of the growth in the area in recent years.
“We chose Stonebridge [at Potomac Town Center] because it’s an up-and-coming area,” said Barahona.
While details are still being solidified, Barahona did say that the family is planning to open more Burgerfi location in Northern Virginia.
