Overcrowding continues to be a problem at many schools in the county.
To provide relief for some at the upper level — specifically Battlefield High School in Haymarket, Patriot High School in Nokesville, and Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas — a 13th high school is being built.
The institution is expected to open near Gainesville Middle School in fall 2021.
Officials have started the boundary planning process, according to a release from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS).
They are developing boundary proposals that will be posted on the school system’s website and social media pages.
Parents, guardians and community members will be able to offer feedback about the plans at a couple of upcoming meetings.
The discussions are scheduled for April 30 at Stonewall Jackson High School and May 16 at Patriot High School. Both meetings will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Members of the county School Board will vote on a boundary plan after a public hearing that will start at 7 p.m. on June 19 at the Kelly Leadership Center in Manassas.
