Wildlife may be spotted in Prince William County this spring and summer.
While looking for food, some bears will travel through residential spaces.
Citizens can prevent unwanted visits by temporarily remove food options, such as outdoor grills, bird feeders and beehives.
The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) also encourages them to store trash in a garage or basement.
Anyone who spots a bear should keep their distance bring pets indoors.
They shouldn’t feed or attempt to move it.
County residents who have a continuous bear issue may contact the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) Fredericksburg office at 540-899-4169.
