A new partnership is addressing a need for English and Citizenship classes.
BEACON for English Language and Literacy is teaming up with Manassas Baptist Church.
The new connection seeks to increase accessibility to the adult classes, according to a release from BEACON for English Language and Literacy.
“We are profoundly grateful for our invaluable partnership with Manassas Baptist Church. This collaboration brings with it a crucial expansion of in-person classroom space, empowering adult learners who are eager to enroll in our classes,” Executive Director Jennifer Katac said in a release. “Enlisting more volunteers is also vital to support our program’s growth and we are hopeful that community members will rise to the occasion and create a positive and meaningful impact.”
More than 260 people signed up for the non-profit’s spring classes. Students may begin registering for the fall session on July 31. So far, 140 local residents have signed up ahead of time.
An appointment needs to be scheduled through BEACON’s website by prospective students.
BEACON for English Language and Literacy is seeking volunteer teachers for its fall classes, which start on August 21. Volunteers should be at least 18 years old, but experience isn’t required. Training and support are offered.
