Halloween will be here next week.
The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) is reminding community members to travel safely.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), alcohol abuse contributes to about half of traffic-related deaths in the United States on Halloween night.
Those planning to attend parties are encouraged to select a sober driver, or use public transit or a ridesharing option, according to a release from PWCPD.
Party hosts should also ensure that their guests have a designated driver.
Drivers and passengers can also protect themselves against impaired drivers by using a seatbelt.
