With the growing concerns about the Coronavirus spreading, events throughout Virginia have been cancelled.
One annual program is continuing with an innovative approach.
The Occoquan Community Peep Contest, which was scheduled for April 11, will be online this year.
Through the contest, which is hosted by the Town of Occoquan and the Occoquan Merchants Guild, participants are able to build dioramas with Peeps.
Four categories are being offered — Family/Team, Individual, Kids and Youth — and the winners will receive a $25 prize.
Merchants in Occoquan are also invited to participate, with the winner gaining “bragging rights,” according to the Occoquan < online > Peep Show Facebook event.
Anyone who would like to enter the peep contest must fill out a form that’s available on Google Docs by April 9.
Participants will be able to upload photos of the dioramas, or bring them to Occoquan Town Hall, 314 Mill Street, from April 6 to April 9.
Community members can vote on Facebook between April 10 and April 13.
