The AJ Team for Keller Williams Realty is hosting a “community backpack challenge” to collect school supplies for students in need.
According to a release, the team is working with HomeAid Northern Virginia, and is accepting new donations of new backpacks, prefilled with school supplies.
The school supplies will be distributed to students in homeless shelters and local schools.
Statistics from HomeAid show that one in 30 children in the United States experience homelessness every year, and more than 35,000 homeless children live in Virginia.
“If you would be so kind to help us bless our community — we have a surprise for you. If you drop off a pre-filled backpack, Frostie Moose [in Woodbridge] has agreed to give out a coupon for FREE ice cream! We love ice cream, but most importantly we love to be a blessing to our community,” stated AJ Team CEO Allen Johnson in a release.
