Prince William County, VA – The Prince William County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (PWCAC-DST) is proud to announce the finalists for its 41st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Program and Youth Oratorical Competition.
This year’s event will be held on the Dr. King holiday, Monday, January 19, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 18410 Chapel Street, Triangle, VA. The event is free and open to the public, and the community is warmly invited to attend.
Six outstanding students in grades 6–12, selected from the Regional Competition representing Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park, will showcase their oratorical talents during the MLK Program.
Students from the following schools will speak at the program:
Middle Schools:
- Benton Middle School
- Rippon Middle School
- Manassas Park Middle School
High Schools:
- C.D. Hylton High School
- Gainesville High School
- Manassas Park High School
At both the middle and high school levels, a fourth winner was chosen during the Regional Competition as the Judge’s Choice/Honorable Mention awardee. These students will also be formally recognized during the program.
Congratulations are extended to the 18 student representatives from Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park who advanced to the Regional Competition. They will each be honored on Monday, January 19 with a Drum Major Medal and certificate.
This year’s speech theme – “Awakening the Dream: Breaking Barriers in the Fight for Justice and Unity” – reflects the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose calls for justice, unity, and an equitable future continue to resonate today.
Additional Program Highlights:
- Performance by the MLK Youth Community Choir, featuring students in grades K–12
- An inspirational dance presentation by Divine Inspirations Center for the Arts (DICA)
In the spirit of service, attendees are encouraged to participate in the Chapter’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. Donations of ready-to-eat items, microwaveable meals, and nonperishable food will be collected for distribution to local food pantries.

- Doors open at 10 a.m.
- Small business vendors and community organizations will be on-site providing resources and offering items for purchase.
