The new year is almost upon us. A couple of Prince William County events will be getting residents and visitors outside from the start.
First Day Hikes have been scheduled. Here are the details:
Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park
- January 1, 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park, 10501 Tenth Alabama Way in Bristow
- Community members can join staff on a 3-mile walk, where they will hear stories and learn about recent projects.

Leesylvania State Park
- Jan. 1, 9 a.m. – Noon
- 2001 Daniel K. Ludwig Drive in Woodbridge
- Park visitors can check out 2 hikes with rangers:
- Wetland Hike: 9 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. The hike starts at Bushey Point trailhead.
- Kids Sensory Hike: 11 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. Meet at the Visitor Center for this hike, which goes along Potomac Trail.
- Warm drinks and First Day Hike stickers will be available at the Visitor Center between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (while supplies last).
