There will be some overnight travel delays on I-95 this week.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), there will be lane closures as crews continue to work on the Fall Hill overpass and widening project in Fredericksburg.
“With favorable temperatures expected next week, crews will continue to clean and stain the new bridge, which is located at mile marker 131 in Fredericksburg. The staining solution is temperature sensitive and must be applied with an ambient temperature above 40˚ Fahrenheit,” stated VDOT.
Here is the lane closure schedule, from VDOT:
Monday, Feb. 27 and Tuesday, Feb. 28
I-95 Southbound at mile marker 131 (Fall Hill Avenue)
- Single lane closure at 9:30 p.m.
- Double lane closure 10 p.m.
- All lanes re-open to traffic by 5 a.m.
Wednesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 2
I˗95 Northbound at mile marker 131 (Fall Hill Avenue)
- Single lane closure at 9 p.m.
- Double lane closure at 10 p.m.
- All lanes re-open to traffic by 4:30 a.m.
Crews will also install new curbing and gutter along southbound Route 1 near Mary Washington Boulevard next week which will require a single lane closure.
Monday, Feb. 27 ˗˗ Thursday, March 2
Route 1 Southbound between Alvey Drive and Rappahannock Canal
- Single right lane at 10 a.m. ˗˗ 5 p.m.
Message boards will warn travelers to stay alert for work zones ahead and possible delays.
