$5.1 million has been awarded to Fort Myer Construction Corp. to begin work on rehabilitation of six bridges on I-95.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the project will “improve the condition of northbound and southbound bridges that carry I-95 over Aquia Creek and Potomac Creek in Stafford, and the Ni River in Spotsylvania.”
The $5.1 million project will include deck repairs, superstructure repairs, substructure repairs, and cracks, stated VDOT.
“The project will also include installing dry rip rap, complete joint reconstruction, milling concrete decks, patching and installing a latex modified concrete on deck,” stated VDOT.
Work on the project will begin at the northbound I-95 bridge over the Ni River at mile market 121, and four to five months of work per bridge location is anticipated, stated VDOT.
“Lane closures will be required for approximately two months at each bridge. Lane closures will be scheduled for overnight and off-peak hours,” according to VDOT.
Construction will begin this fall, and is slated for completion in November 2018.
