The holiday season is approaching fast. Do you know what you’re getting your favorite techie for Christmas this year? At Gemmis Technologies, we think these 5 gifts should make your list.
Kindle Voyage 2
Not much is known about this newer Kindle model. It’s scheduled to be released sometime this month and is expected to cost about $200. It will utilize the new Freescale I.MX 7 1 GHZ dual core processor, which is expected to greatly improve page-turn speed. It is also rumored to have a small built in solar panel, allowing it to charge itself in direct sunlight.
Karma Go
This small box takes a cellular signal and turns it into your own personal wi-fi connection, so you have internet access wherever you go. You can pay by the GB or by the month for unlimited access. This device comes with no strings attached, making it the perfect gift for someone who doesn’t want to be tied into a data plan.
Amazon Echo
Meet Alexa, the voice behind the Amazon Echo speaker. She’s a more natural version of Siri and is better overall at voice recognition. The system even uses your own voice recordings to improve its results. In addition to performing normal speaker functions, the Echo can use Alexa to access the internet and respond to your questions. The sleek black cylinder design of the Echo is about 9 inches tall and a little over 3 inches in width.
Phantom 3 Professional
This camera delivers HD video from the underbelly of a drone. The sensors and satellite navigation are greatly improved from the last model, making it a more stable flight. This one might be priced outside of your budget at a whopping $979, but you are buying a drone after all, not to mention high-quality footage.
Belkin WeMo Insight Switch
In contrast to the Phantom 3, this device is simple and way more inexpensive. For someone looking out for their energy consumption though, this gift would be awesome. You plug in the Belkin switch before inserting whatever device you’re using. The wi-fi enabled switch connects that device to the internet, where you can track energy consumption and switch the power on and off.
