One Manassas resident has some extra change in her pocket.
Kelly Coyne won $1 million from the Virginia Lottery.
The Millionaire Maker ticket was bought at Manassas Mall Exxon, 8289 Sudley Road in Manassas, according to a release from the Virginia Lottery.
“I showed it to the store owner,” Coyne told the Virginia Lottery. “He said, ‘Congratulations, Kelly. Now put it away and go home!’”
Prior to buying this ticket, she had purchased two scratchers and won $30 and $50.
Coyne picked $601,684 cash – before taxes – over the $1 million she could have received throughout 30 years. She plans to care for her family with the winnings.
The Virginia Lottery provided Manassas Mall Exxon with a $10,000 bonus because it sold the ticket.
Millionaire Maker players have a 1 in 2.78 chance of receiving a prize, and the possibility of winning $1 million is 1 in 244,800.
