Veterans are receiving helpful companions and services after a recent fundraiser.
VCA Woodbridge Animal Hospital has helped raised funds for Veterans Moving Forward, a Sterling-based non-profit.
Veterans Moving Forward provides service dogs and therapy services to veterans who are facing physical and mental challenges, according to a release.
VCA Woodbridge Animal Hospital and other Virginia animal hospitals participated in the annual Pennies for Pets campaign, which took place between April and June.
Animal hospital customers were asked to round their transactions to the nearest dollar and donate online.
VCA Charities, VCA Animal Hospitals’ non-profit partner, raised more than $565,000 for “animal welfare organizations” through the campaign.
More than $8,800 was raised for Veterans Moving Forward.
“We want to thank all of those clients, donors and staff for helping to make this year’s Pennies for Pets a success here in Woodbridge,” VCA Woodbridge Animal Hospital Manager Genevieve Henderson said in a release. “These funds are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our nation’s veterans.”
