Virginia residents are gaining another outdoor space to explore.
Widewater State Park is opening in Stafford County on Thursday.
Governor Ralph Northam, local officials, and community members will be participating in a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m.
The property, located at 101 Widewater State Park Road, stands near the Aquia Creek and Potomac River.
Picnic areas, canoe launches, playgrounds and waterfowl blinds are among its features, according to Eastern Region Virginia State Parks PR and Marketing Specialist Andrew Sporrer.
Widewater is a sister park to Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge.
