UPDATE: Bruce Tucker, one of the organizers for the event, passed this along to us with more information about the outcomes of the event.
The first annual Guns and Hoses Hockey Game between the Prince William firefighters and police officers turned out to be both an exciting game and extremely successful event! Finally, both teams would like to thank the nearly 200 people that came out to show their support and help us raise over $1400 in raffles, 50/50, and donations. On top of the $1400.00 split 70/30 between the organizations each charity received an additional private donation of $100 each and with merchandise sales by LEU the total raised for the event was almost $2000.00. Again on behalf of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, Law Enforcement United the over 30 police and fire members that played and the over 20 volunteers that made the day possible we thank you for your support!
Both teams are already gearing up for next year’s event so plan to join us back at Prince William Ice Center on July 14, 2018!
The Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue came out on top, winning Saturday’s ‘Guns and Hoses’ hockey fundraiser game.
It’s the first year for the event, which took place at Prince William Ice Center in Dale City, and was a way for Prince William police and firefighters to come together to raise money for their respective chosen charities – Law Enforcement United and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
“Both teams have a charity that they raise money for, and we’re hoping that today’s the start of a really good annual tradition for us,” said Prince William Ice Center Hockey Director RJ Zeigler.
