County residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of unused and expired prescriptions later this month.
The Prince William County Police Department, the Manassas City Police Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and community organizations are hosting a prescription drug “Take Back” day on April 28.
The event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., aims to prevent drug abuse and theft, according to a release.
Community members can turn in tablets and capsules at three drop-off locations: Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, Sentara Lake Ridge Ambulatory Care Center, or Novant Health UVA Health System Haymarket Medical Center.
Needles, injectables, intravenous fluids, and illicit drugs — including marijuana and methamphetamine — will also not be accepted.
Participants can protect their privacy by peeling off labels or darken personal information using a marker.
