One local restaurant is jumping in to support a Dumfries-based non-profit.
Matchbox Vintage Pizza Bistro’s Woodbridge location is donating pizza to a program run by Action in Community Through Service (ACTS).
Funds had become tight for the ACTS Domestic Violence Services’ Family Program, which seeks to support those impacted by domestic violence.
The limited budget led the non-profit to stop serving dinner at the weekly support groups, according to a release.
About a dozen adults and 20 children attend the meetings.
Jim Hartner, general manager of Matchbox’s Woodbridge site, offered to help when he met with ACTS CEO Steve Liga.
“I went into the meeting hoping to recruit volunteers for our Hunger Prevention Center,” Liga said in a release. “I never expected our families impacted by domestic violence would be enjoying gourmet pizza every week thanks to Matchbox’s generosity.”
