Another resource is available to those looking for financial assistance.
Prince William County has opened a Financial Empowerment Center near Lake Ridge.
Located at 13370 Minnieville Road, the center offers free financial services to members of the community, according to a release from the county.
Visitors can receive financial, housing and small business counseling. The Financial Empowerment Center also provides tax services and financial education.
Supervisor Ruth Anderson talked about how the center will benefit Prince William County at the ribbon cutting ceremony.
To have a “robust economy,” she explained, a locality must have big and small businesses.
“Small business is what makes Prince William go around,” Anderson said. “To have small businesses … we have to have people ready to work in those small businesses and that’s what workforce is all about, right here. When we get those jobs, we need people ready to work in those jobs.”
The Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) Prince William is partnering with the SunTrust Foundation, the United Way National Capital Area and SkillSource Group, Inc. on the center.
VCE counselors will be available at the site, which the SunTrust Foundation is funding through a grant to the United Way National Capital Area.
“The idea of the center is to be more available to the community; so, we have more counselors working one-on-one with clients, and we have more educational programs going on to fit the needs of the community, especially to grow small businesses and what they’re doing, and to help grow financial confidence in the community,” VCE Financial Education and Housing Counselor Program Manager Victoria Neeley said in a release.
More details about VCE’s financial services can be found on Prince William County’s website.
