Science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) skills were challenged last weekend.
Several students took part in the second annual Model Water Tower Competition on Saturday.
The Prince William County Service Authority’s (PWCSA) and the Virginia Section of the American Water Works Association hosted the event at the Raymond Spittle Building in Woodbridge.
Competitors built model water towers that were judged on their design and structural efficiency, according to PWCSA Outreach and Education Assistant Michelle Bouchard.
“The Service Authority thanks all the participants, volunteers and sponsors to help make this event possible,” Bouchard said.
Renu Nguyen-Rawoor from Graham Park Middle School in Triangle and Jerry Boasmanboon from St. Francis of Assisi School in Triangle were the first place winners.
Maddi Waltsak from Antietam Elementary School in Woodbridge won second place.
The third place prize was awarded to Kylie Hayes, Erin Fortson, Laurie Kouevi, Stella Kouevi and Alyssa Cassel from Woodbridge Middle School.
