Mayor Derrick Wood is representing the Town of Dumfries at the federal level.
Wood was named to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2019 Transportation and Infrastructure Services (TIS) committee.
“I am grateful for the selection committee giving me an opportunity to serve on the Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee,” Wood said in a release. “The Town of Dumfries will greatly benefit because we have U.S. Route 1 a major highway that runs North and South through our town and it will give us an opportunity to advocate for more funding from the Federal Government to be put into building the infrastructure that will benefit all that travel on it.”
The committee helps form the NLC’s position on various topics, including transportation and funding, according to a release.
“Our federal advocacy committees help ensure that policymakers in Washington know what’s happening on the ground in our communities – and what is needed from our federal partners,” NLC President Karen Freeman-Wilson said in a release. “I am proud to have Derrick Wood join NLC’s Transportation and Infrastructure Services committee on behalf of his residents.”
