One Dale City resident is being recognized for her work in the community.
Dale City Masonic Lodge #319 presented Ernestine Jenkins with the “Community Builders Award” on Friday evening.
Jenkins is involved in various organizations, including the Bel Air Woman’s Club.
She serves as Chairman of the Dale City 4th of July Parade Committee and Chairman of the Dale City Civic Association (DCCA) Awards Banquet Committee, as well.
Jenkins and her husband, Supervisor John Jenkins, recently received Leadership Prince William’s (LPW) “Vision Award.”
“I don’t do it for these awards,” Ernestine Jenkins said. “I do it, because I — first of all — love my country and love my county. But I really love Dale City.”
State Delegate Hala Ayala told ceremony attendees that she would not be a delegate had it not been for the help of Jenkins’ help.
“So, you’re more than just a community member. You’re sort of a steward, an icon that we work to live up to,” Ayala told Ernestine Jenkins. “Thank you for all that you’ve done. Both of you have sacrificed so much, and we stand on your shoulders.”
