Mayfield Intermediate School will have a new leader next school year.
Donald J. Frischkorn, Jr. has been named the new principal of Mayfield Intermediate School in Manassas.
The City of Manassas School Board appointed Frischkorn to the position at a meeting last month, according to a release.
Frischkorn, Manassas Park Middle School’s assistant principal, will begin his new role on July 2.
“Mr. Frischkorn is a highly energetic and strong leader who cares deeply for students and believes in a strong instructional environment,” Superintendent Catherine Magouyrk said in a release. “He comes to Mayfield from a school with a similar foundation, where he achieved success focusing on good student attendance, positive behavior and family engagement.”
Frischkorn said he believes that relationships are needed in order for students, staff, parents and the community to be successful.
“I believe my experiences, both as a leader of curriculum and assessment, as well as my successes at the intermediate classroom level, have prepared me to support the vision of Mayfield Intermediate School and of Manassas City Public Schools,” Frischkorn said in a release.
Before he became the assistant principal at Manassas Park Middle School in 2013, Frischkorn served as the assistant principal at Cougar Elementary School in Manassas Park and C.M. Bradley Elementary School in Fauquier County.
He started teaching math and language arts and Manassas Park Elementary School in 2005 and taught sixth grade in Manassas Park, as well.
Frischkorn received his bachelor’s in elementary education from Pennsylvania State University and a master’s in education, administration and supervision from the University of Virginia.
He plans to complete his doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University this fall.
