A new application is helping improve productivity and reduce confusion at the Manassas Regional Airport.
Geographic Information System (GIS) and Manassas Regional Airport staff members have received the Governor’s Technology Award for the Regional Airport Inspection Application.
They were honored at the Commonwealth of Virginia Innovative Technology Symposium (COVITS) in Richmond las week, according to a release.
“This is no small achievement, because the competition was even fiercer than usual,” Government Technology Magazine’s Vice President of Events Jack Mortimer said in a release. “The panel of 12 judges from state, county, city and education faced a difficult challenge but your entry stood out as being clearly praiseworthy.”
GIS Coordinator Margaret Montgomery and Richard Allabaugh from Airport Operations created the program, which allows the airport to complete runway and property inspections electronically.
It allows staff members to find records and load maps, as well.
