Several community members recently supported a literacy program’s mission to help local adults.
Literacy Volunteers of America – Prince William (LVA-PW) held ‘A Taste of Prince William’ last week.
Mayor-Elect and Dyvine BBQ in Motion Owner Derrick Wood participated in the event.
The fundraiser, which took place at VFW Post 1503 in Dale City, offered food from more than 30 local restaurants.
It also featured door prizes, “opportunity baskets,” and a trivia contest.
The proceeds are going to support LVA-PW, which seeks to teach adults various skills.
“We help adults with reading, writing, and a whole range of life skills. We could not do that without [community] support,” LVA-PW Executive Director Debbie Abbott said. “So, attending our fundraisers and supporting us in any way you can by donations is very helpful to us.”
