Community members can help local adults grow their skill set.
The Literacy Volunteers of America — Prince William (LVA-PW), a Woodbridge-based literacy program, is seeking volunteer tutors.
“If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity where you will make a life-long meaningful impact, LVA-PW is for you,” LVA-PW Program Coordinator Jeni Brewer wrote in an email. “We teach adults the life skills of reading, writing, and speaking English. Many of our student’s are new immigrants or refugees to the United States and want to improve their English skills so they can thrive and prosper in our community. They come to us looking for the basic life skills that will be the stepping stones to achieve their higher career or education goals. Be apart of their achievement and become a volunteer tutor with Literacy Volunteers of America – Prince William.”
LVA-PW will be hosting a Tutor Training Workshop from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 14 and from 9 a.m. to Noon on July 28, according to a release.
Those interested in becoming a tutor must attend both days. Registration is available online.
