Bike riding enthusiasts can enjoy one of their favorite activities while supporting a Haymarket-based non-profit.
Serve Our Willing Warriors (SOWW) is hosting an Inaugural Warrior Bicycle Ride on May 6.
“It’s a family-friendly event,” Executive Director Mark Shaaber said. “We’re having bike riders come from all over the Eastern seaboard to participate in this event.”
The Inaugural Warrior Bicycle Ride will be held at The Farm Brewery at Broad Run. The opening ceremony begins at 7:30 a.m. and check-in starts at 7 a.m., according to a release.
Riders have a choice of four bicycle paths — a 10-mile Family Ride, 25-mile Country Challenge, a 30-mile Gravel Ride or a 100 KM (63-mile) Metric Century Ride.
It costs $70 per rider and $40 for a family.
Proceeds will benefit SOWW, which runs the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run in Haymarket. It offers cost-free stays for veterans and service members who are recovering from injuries and illnesses.

In the afternoon, event participants can enjoy live music, craft beer and food.
“I encourage you to please come out. Enjoy this event, get to know Serve Our Willing Warriors,” Shaaber said. “Ride a bike, if you feel that that is something you want to do. If not, just come on out and enjoy the day with us.”
