Nearly one year ago, the Prince William Humane Society’s Adopt Shop opened near Todos Supermarket in Dumfries.
During the past year, the humane society has helped adopt out nearly 350 animals, according to Prince William Humane Society President Lori Leary.
“We just want to thank all of our sponsors and our donors and our adopters, and everybody that has come out and supported us over the last year,” Leary said. “We’re so grateful to everybody and so thankful to all the generosity and the compassion that we have received from the community.”
The non-profit, which was founded in 2012, is celebrating a successful year by hosting an Open House on August 12.
The event, slated to run from Noon to 4 p.m., will offer games, food and goody bags.
It will feature half-priced adoptions, as well.
“So, if you’re in the market for a beautiful little dog or a cat, we have tons of those, and we would love to share them with you,” Leary said.
