Ghosts, goblins, witches and superheroes will be filling the streets of downtown Occoquan.
Haunt the Town, a free event, is being held on October 27.
The Town of Occoquan is partnering with the Occoquan Merchants Guild to host the program, which runs from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Attendees have a chance to test their artistic skills and win a $25 certificate by participating in a pumpkin carving contest.
Entries may be submitted into one of multiple categories — Child, Youth, Adult and Artist.
Event organizers will be accepting pre-carved pumpkins from Noon to 2 p.m. at River Mill Park, and the winners will be announced at 4:30 p.m.
Children also have an opportunity to win gift certificates through a costume parade that begins at 4 p.m.
The costume judging categories are: Cutest, Scariest, Funniest, Most Original, and Family/Group.
Haunt the Town will also offer Hauntingly Historic Occoquan Ghost Tours, a Halloween hunt contest, and a magic show.
Visitors can park for free on the street or in a lot located in Occoquan.
A free shuttle service will also be running from the commuter lot on Route 123 to 305 Mill Street. Donations to Patriots for Disabled Divers, a non-profit, will be accepted.
The shuttle will pick up and drop off passengers between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., at 6:30 p.m. and at 8:30 p.m.
