Government employees impacted by the shutdown are receiving assistance from a local non-profit.
House of Mercy is providing food to workers through its food pantry.
“If you find yourself in need of food, please call or stop by House of Mercy and bring your government ID,” a release stated.
The Manassas-based organization, located at 8170 Flannery Court, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday’s, Tuesday’s, and Thursday through Saturday, and between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday’s.
It plans to see an increase in demand for food as it provides for government employees and individuals who aren’t being assisted by government agencies.
Those interested in donating can find a donation link and a list of grocery items on the House of Mercy’s website.
