Students from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) received a special visitor on Wednesday.
Virginia First Lady Pamela Northam came to Featherstone Elementary School in Woodbridge.
She stopped by pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms.
The school district serves about 800 students in 44 pre-kindergarten classrooms.
“When you see those amazing educators that we have today — really focusing on what that child’s specific needs are, how to motivate them — it’s so hopeful and so encouraging,” Northam said. “They do incredible work and that’s really what we’re here to do today is to celebrate them and the amazing work that they do for the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
Officials have seen collaboration between schools and teachers of differing disciplines.
“It’s wonderful to see and that really starts with great leadership, as well,” Northam said. “The leadership here in the area has been incredible, and with that kind of — really — thoughtfulness, the sky’s the limit.”
