The county’s Fire and Rescue Chief is wrapping up his career.
Kevin McGee from the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue (PWCDFR) has announced his plans to retire.
His role as the department’s leader will end on January 11, according to a release. Deputy Chief Tim Keen will become Acting Chief.
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve the Prince William County community for 39 years,” McGee said in a release. “I will forever cherish the opportunity I had to serve with so many amazing men and women over the years, and I am proud of the changes we have implemented to make Prince William County a safer community.”
In 1979, McGee enrolled in the county’s fire and rescue academy.
Since then, he has served in various positions, including 11 years as the Fire and Rescue Chief.
“Chief McGee is a proven leader and dedicated public servant,” County Executive Chris Martino said in a release. “We are grateful for his efforts to shape the Fire and Rescue System into one of the premier systems in the nation, and we will certainly miss his presence.”
