Local writers are being honored for their hard work next week.
Several fourth- and fifth-graders have placed in an annual essay contest.
Students from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS), Manassas City Public Schools (MCPS), and Manassas Park City Schools (MPCS) were able to submit papers that focused on how they can impact the community through small tasks, according to a release.
On January 21, the winners will be recognized at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Program & Youth Oratorical Contest, which starts at 11 a.m. at Hylton Memorial Chapel in Woodbridge.
The Prince William Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (PWCAC-DST), the Cecil & Irene Hylton Foundation, and the Delta Research and Educational Foundation are sponsoring the event.
