The Town of Dumfries Police Department is helping feed less fortunate families.
More than 400 non-perishables were collected through the department’s second annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive.
Business owners, Dumfries Elementary School, and Nikki’s Christian Daycare & Learning Center in Woodbridge donated the food items.
At least 30 turkey dinners were given to families, according to Officer Ana Torres.
“After we put all the meals together, officers, including the Chief of Police James W. McCarty, drove around to all the residents in the town and delivered turkey meals right to their doors,” Torres wrote in an email. “We really enjoy being able to help the community and look forward to being able to help more families next year.”
