More than 600 track and field athletes will descend on Gar-Field High School on Saturday.
The Dale City “LIGHTNING” Track Club (DCTC) is hosting its fourth annual Lightning Relay Games event at the Woodbridge-based school.
DCTC, a non-profit that was formed in 2010, seeks to provide area youth with a fun, competitive and social environment while also informing them about track and field.
The event on Saturday will focus on popular relays as well as individual running and field events, such as the 200 meter challenge, according to a release.
It will also feature entertainment and vendors. County officials and community supporters, including the United States Air Force and Nike, will be in attendance.
“Our event and program has grown tremendously and we look forward to hosting teams across the region,” Head Coach Monte Evans said in a release. “We are excited to host our annual meet to give our athletes the opportunity to compete, improve their personal best times and most importantly, have fun and enjoy the sport of track and field.”
