One Prince William County non-profit is connecting athletes with the community.
Dale City Track Club (DCTC) was recently named the 2018 Track and Field District Club of the Year for Virginia by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
A volunteer-based organization, DCTC exposes its estimated 400 members to educational and community service opportunities.
In order to be considered for the award, it needed to show athletic excellence and participation in the community, according to a release.
Members and coaches from DCTC have volunteered at the Dale City Fourth of July Parade and partnered with businesses to help give holiday gift baskets to families.
They also worked alongside organizations, including The Good News Community Kitchen and local churches.
AAU also considered previous honors DCTC has received, which included winning the 2018 Indoor National Championship for the 9- and 10-year-old girls 4×200 Relay.
