Commuters may see more traffic than usual on I-95 this fall.
An upcoming project could lead to morning delays on weekends.
Starting on Saturday, the highway’s express lanes will be closed between Exit 152, which leads to Route 234, and Exit 156, which connects with Dale Boulevard.
The closure will begin south of Exit 158, which goes to to Prince William Parkway, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
On Saturdays, the express lanes will be southbound and commuters will be required to exit them at the Dale City/Rippon Landing ramp.
The lanes will be northbound on Sundays and drivers can enter them at Opitz Boulevard.
The closures are resulting from work on Dominion Energy transmission line replacement project
VDOT is encouraging travelers to use alternate routes while it’s being completed between sunrise and 10 a.m.

Traffic stops are also expected on Route 1.
Flaggers will stationed between Chesapeake Drive and River Ridge Boulevard in Dumfries on in the morning and early afternoon of various days.
