The holiday season will be coming to a close in the coming weeks.
As the end draws near, county residents will begin considering how they can dispose of their Christmas trees
Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) in Manassas and Prince William County are encouraging citizens to recycle them.
Once decorations, hooks and stands are removed, trees may be brought to several sites.
Here is information about where and when they can be dropped off, according to a release from the county:
The Prince William County Landfill and the Balls Ford Road Yard Waste Compost Facility will be closed on New Year’s Day.
More information is about trash and recycling is available on Prince William County’s website.
NOVEC is also taking trees at 5399 Wellington Branch Road in Gainesville between December 26 and January 7.
Greenery should be brought to the front parking lot of electric cooperative’s technical center, where orange safety cones will be set up, according to a release from NOVEC.
“Protecting the environment is a high priority at NOVEC,” Vegetation Management Manager Rick Carpenter. “Recycling holiday greens is just another way we help our customers and the environment.”
To learn about NOVEC’s recycling option, contact the vegetation management department by calling 703-335-0500 or 1-888-335-0500, extension 1600, or emailing VegetationMgmt@novec.com.
