Several community members came together to support a local non-profit on Monday.
The Prince William County Boys & Girls Clubs hosted its Blue Door event at the Hylton Boys & Girls Club in Dale City.
The annual fundraiser offered food from local restaurants, auction items and a social hour.
County residents and businesses also had an opportunity to donate to the non-profit.
Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire in Woodbridge contributed $5,000.
“The Boys & Girls Club offers a safe place for kids to go before and after school,” Owner ST Billingsley said. “We’ve been longtime supporters of this organization, and this is just a way that we can give back to the community.”
More than $10,000 was raised through the event.
Jason Hickman from Compton & Duling served as the special honoree.
He reminded board members, volunteers and attendees to believe in the children who surround them.
“Each day is an opportunity for us,” Hickman said. “It’s an opportunity for us to give back, to promote, to inspire, and to be inspired. It’s an opportunity to make a difference in young people’s lives.”
