Reducing traffic and increasing safety are two goals of local road work.
The Balls Ford Road Interchange project is moving forward.
It seeks to address traffic congestion and make the Balls Ford Road-Prince William Parkway intersection more safe.
Recently, the Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) OK’d the Prince William Parkway Interchange and Balls Ford Road Realignment project’s final design, according to a release from Prince William County.
This fall, construction is slated to begin on the project, which is expected to wrap up in November 2022.
Officials will build a four-lane divided road and a raised median between Devlin Road and Doane Drive on Balls Ford Road. A sidewalk and a multi-use path are going to be added, as well.
Constructing a bridge that crosses above the Norfolk Southern Railroad is also part of the project.
Managed by the Prince William County Department of Transportation, the work is funded through the Transform I-66 Outside the Beltway Concessionaire Fund.
