Local juniors and seniors have an opportunity to meet state legislators this winter.
Virginia Senator Jeremy McPike’s office is taking applications for this year’s Greater Prince William Young Leaders Program.
Between six and eight students from Prince William County, and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park will learn about legislation and leadership through a trip to Richmond, according to McPike’s website.
Program participants may meet with Governor Ralph Northam, Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax, and the Governor’s Cabinet during the 2019 Virginia General Assembly.
They could also meet state delegates, attend committee meetings, and tour the Virginia State Capital and Governor’s Mansion.
The free trip will run from January 27 through January 29.
McPike’s office will cover costs associated with lodging, meals, transportation, and activities.
Students interested in participating must submit their application by midnight on December 2.
Applicants can learn if they live in the 29th Senate District by visiting the General Assembly’s website.
