A local organization is providing needed support to area veterans and their families.
American Legion Post 364 is having a grand opening at 3640 Friendly Post Lane in Dale City this week.
The organization is an affiliate of American Legion, a national non-profit that offers youth programs.
Members of the national non-profit will be celebrating the grand opening through several programs.
“We’re looking for veterans who need a place to meet with other veterans and support, and we’re looking to create new members,” Post Commander Thom Karlson said.
The festivities are kicking off with a wine tasting event that’s scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.
From 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Friday, the Lonesome Ryder Band will be performing.
Breakfast will be offered from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Later that day, at 4:30 p.m., officials are participating in a ribbon cutting ceremony that will be followed by dinner and a performance by Big Bee Band.
The United States Marine Corps birthday is being celebrated on Saturday, as well.
Community members may enjoy lunch and watch football between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
