Prince William County water sources and landfills are staying a bit cleaner.
A few agencies collected more than 460 pounds of unused and expired medication at a drug take-back day on Saturday.
County residents turned in the prescriptions at three locations – Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, Novant Health UVA Health System Haymarket Medical Center, and the Charlie T. Deane Central District Police Station in Woodbridge – according to a release.
Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD), the Manassas City Police Department, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) participated in the event, which seeks to deter individuals from stealing and abusing medication.
The agencies are thanking participants, saying that it’s helping keep prescription drugs out of the landfill and water sources.
